But this isn't the only frog in Marie's garden. Many real frogs have made Marie's pond their home. The plant to the right of the frog is a dwarf Weigela called 'My Monet', which grows to a height of only 12 to 18 inches. margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: justify;">One of the more unusual items in Marie's "Creepy Garden" is this statue, which is named "Le Pleurant", which means "The Weeper" in French. A pleurant symbolizes solitude, spirituality, introspection, and sorrow. Pleurant figures have been used to show mourning so intense that it is also isolation - shutting away the world out of pain. Historically, a person who suffered great loss would go to the monks and request to be a pleurant. If granted, they would spend a year or more under the heavy cloths, completely cut off from the world. The pleurant would use their solitude to work through their pain, trying to find God and overcome the great emotional burden they were bearing. And when the pleurant felt that their need was finished, the pleurant would simply remove the cloths and return to the regular world.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; The paving stones that mark the path are a clever way to ensure that garden visitors walk around the Japanese maple instead of accidentally damaging the tree by walking too close to it. The botanical name for daylily is Hemerocallis, which means "beauty for a day". Even though each individiual flower lasts for only one day, each plant produces many blooms during the growing season. Here are two of Ann's daylilies:
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; It's one of Ann's newest additions to her garden. There are many different kinds of sedum, including the other sedum in this picture to the right of the lower rock. That larger sedum is Sedum kamtschaticum.

A beaufiul color combination of pink and purple is on display in Ann's front yard. Here, the beautiful pink yarrow (Achillea) is accented nicely by the purple salvia or veronica. Both salvias and veronicas have similar flower spikes.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; I'll try to identify it for the future. But for now, I'll just describe it as a low-growing plant with a tiny true-blue flower. You can see the flower in more detail in the second picture below.

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oAlWe_S9jS4/TiIDbUwlQyI/AAAAAAAAAPs/W9X0EEKpJY8/s1600/Ann%2527s+plant+with+true+blue+flowers.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; Ann divided some of her hostas and transplanted each division with care into this bed. Some of the hostas look unhappy now, but they will perk up. Dividing plants is a great way to increase the number of plants you have or to share plants with friends.

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HQb9V06j6_M/TiHxT8bax1I/AAAAAAAAAO0/Nd4mNlIsvew/s1600/Ann%2527s+new+hosta+garden.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; Ann has a delightful sense of humor, and doesn't mind it if the joke is on her. One of the plants in the picture above, planted with Ann's loving care, is NOT a hosta at all, but a weed. Can you spot it? If not, see the picture below. Ann said that she thought about pulling the weed out before the garden tour, but decided that we would all get a chuckle from her mistake. Although, as Marie pointed out, the weed in question is a plantain, and one of the common names for the hosta is "plantain lily" because of its resemblance to the plantain weed. So Ann's mistake was perfecty understandable!

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--6vas6zF0iM/TiHxLol21ZI/AAAAAAAAAOs/h3yIs2nla3Q/s1600/Ann%2527s+hosta+that+is+not+a+hosta.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; I was so taken with what Father John was saying that I neglected to take pictures at that point! I regained my senses in time to take some photos of the gardens around the rectory. Here is a circular garden that contains different varieties of daylilies. There are also other plants in this garden, but during our tour, the daylilies were the main attraction.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;
